Last Weekend

Jumpsuit: Tobi  |  Trench Coat: Tobi  |  Backpack: Tobi  |  Shoes: Thrifted  |  Sunglasses: Eye Buy Direct

Hey Guys, Happy Monday!

I spent last Saturday window shopping, café hopping and getting some fresh air (also working at said café). It was such a beautiful day and I decided to walk instead of drive. My TOBI backpack did an amazing job at carrying all of my necessities while remaining light and comfortable. I even had my MacBook with me and it did great!

Since I know you guys love “what’s in my bag” posts, I decided to show you some of my favorite items that I always carry with me.

I usually have at least one book with me, sunglasses, concealer, travel size perfume (or a sample I’m into) and right now I’ve been carrying my Glossier Cloud Paint around with me because I just got it and I’m obsessed!

I picked up some beautiful tulips on the way home and couldn’t help snapping some photos of how pretty they looked in my Tobi bag. Even when June decided that she wanted to sabotage my process. :)

Hope you have an excellent week friends!

RELAX copy

As you may have noticed, I haven’t been around much as of late. A lot has been happening behind the scenes and I just needed some time off. I didn’t really plan or tell myself that I was going to take a break from EVERYTHING, social media, blogging, the whole works. I barely kept up with a few small freelance jobs that I’ve been working on. It felt good but at the same time, I had no desire at all to create and that worried me but I didn’t think about it too much. I’ve heard so many other creatives talk about the same thing happening. Sometimes you get so depressed and stressed out that you literally can’t create anything good and I definitely didn’t want to do that to myself. So I just let it happen, I let go.

It wasn’t until the other day that I had the urge to create again, to do some lettering. I haven’t actually done any lettering yet but it gave me hope. Hope that I will continue to do the things I enjoy and hope that I will figure out what those things are. One thing I did do a ton of is reading. I LOVE reading and I read so many good books. I will share those in a later post and if you have any suggestions, please share!

Anyway, I’m hoping to get back into the habit of doing things. Writing on here, taking on more freelance work, creating just for fun. We FINALLY finished school and that has helped in giving me room to breathe and think about something other than design for awhile. We just recently moved to another city as well. Still very close to Seattle but much closer to Dustin’s work. I love it but that was incredibly stressful and I’m not quite used to the new place yet. If you follow me on Snapchat, you’ve seen some sneak peeks. It is gorgeously designed, we literally couldn’t turn it down even though it was smaller and had a higher rent. The money we’re now saving in gas actually made it cheaper than our last place. But still, it is smaller and its new which is both good and bad. Hard to find the flow right now but we’ll get there.

It’s late and I’m rambling so I’ll end with this; the break was good but I hope to start sharing and participate in the online community again. And if you ever need to take a break, just do it. We hold ourselves to the most ridiculous standards sometimes. It’s okay to take some time off, to breathe, to live.

Now go see some fireworks!!

Welcome to Union Glacier

If you like documentaries, Wes Anderson and good design, you should watch this! Seriously reminds me of Wes Anderson so much. The typography, filming, and humor get 5 stars from me.

If only more documentaries were filmed with this level of creativity.

Enjoy! xo, heather

NEW Biz Cards!

HS7   HS7

Hey friends!

Part of my portfolio course was to design business cards for myself. When I saw that MOO now offered gold foil, I was so excited!! I didn’t know if I would be able to do a paint splatter in gold foil or not but that was the hope. All the way up until the end, I wasn’t sure how it would turn out but I am so in love with them!! They are absolutely perfect!

I tried a number of different options but this was the light/dark combo that both D and myself liked the best. Did I mention how easy they’re system is to use?? This post is totally not sponsored, I just really liked the outcome and the entire process was so simple.

Anyway, you can print so many good things on their site. I can’t wait until D and I are able to get our co-owned biz in order and possibly a small shop so that I can get brand collateral in all shapes and sizes printed.

Have you used moo? Did you like it??

Moodboard 01 | Meraki

It hasn’t been very summery in Seattle as of late, which is actually unusual for this time of year. August is always obnoxiously hot. We’ve had heavy clouds, windstorms (elongated power outages!) and of course, rain. Now that it’s September, the weather is starting to match the season again. The first time I visited Seattle (a few years before we moved here) was in September for our honeymoon. We went on an Alaskan cruise and stayed in Seattle for a few days beforehand. I’ll never forget that morning plane ride (which is unfortunately the last time I was on a plane). The clouds were so thick and fluffy. It was like a giant quilt blanketing the city. There were bulges and ruffles and the occasional hole. I thought we were going to crash during the landing because there was so much fog, we literally couldn’t see the ground until we were on it. It was crazy but in hindsight, it was still one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. September is probably my favorite month for that reason. Well that and that it’s our anniversary month.

I gathered these images into a moodboard when reflecting on the recent days and also thinking of a vacation I’ll hopefully be taking very soon. The darker days can get your down but most of the time I like the moody weather. The sky is always changing here, there’s never a dull moment (or an ugly one). If it’s foggy, chances are I’m having the best day. As someone who creates, I’d be lying if I said I had time to be out of the house anyway. Speaking of time, I have a pile of homework to tend to and a packaging project that I need to get started on.

Hope you’re Sunday is relaxing, gorgeous, and filled with good weather (whatever kind you like!)
